I don't think there was any suggestion that the case would have no bearing here. Whether it would be 'highly influential' is another matter.

Thank you for your comment. According to evidence in the case Cobaw had no idea that CYC was a Christian campsite so it seems impossible that they "targetted" the campsite.

It is foolish to suggest the case will have no bearing here. The reasoning could be highly influential. There is no reason to read it down. The reaffirmation of the rights of the cultural majority could be profound if it represents a general trend in international human rights law, which it should.

There are so many Charters to draw from in order to activate a group's agenda.

The laws at present are sufficient to cover and protect all groups (except the unborn).

Cobaw targetted this campsite to create a situation, hoping to gain support.

The Victorian Government have just found in favour of faith groups to make appropriate decisions where necessary, as was done in this case.

kind regards

i work with aboriginal land issues in Southern Africa, and have enjoyed reading the above article by Chris Marshall. It is good to reflect on the Christian origins and roots of the current developments in Victoria, which from afar seem exciting and to hold the prospect of far more rapid and sensible settlements away from the court system. I found that the reference to the great George Robinson as one of those who reflected deeply on the aboriginals connection to land, so foreign to the coloniser, long before those around were able to understand, let alone legislate, moving.
Despite being a lawyer, i am a firm believer that human rights and fairness are better reached in negotiations between honest peoples than in the arcane halls of the western court system.

You guys are SERIOUSLY misguided. We should be thanking God that he did not allow this horrific rights charter business to succeed. The church can now continue its mission to save the lost; if Mr Brennan had gotten his way, Christ's witness would have been severely hindered. You should be ashamed that you have joined forces with the secularists and sodomites to undermine freedom of religion in this country. It is deplorable that you are working against your own brothers and sisters in the Catholic and bible-believing evangelical churches. I pray that you will repent of your error and stop propagating these uninformed opinions.
